Sandbags, flood damaged items
The Fairgrounds staging area for flood debris closed June 25th. A new flood debris drop-off site is open at the City’s Yard Waste Facility located at 1301 8th Street SE (east of soccer complex). This also includes the new drop-off site for all flood-damaged appliances. Debris can be left on the curbside for pick-up until July 15th. Starting on July 16th, City crews will begin making a final pass through each area of town that was flooded and pick up any remaining debris and sandbags from the curb.
To help accommodate all, the Yard Waste Facility will be open Monday through Friday from Noon to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; until Tuesday, July 15th. The Yard Waste Facility will resume normal summer hours on July 16th.
The Iowa DOT is assisting the City of Waverly with the removal of sandbags that have been placed at the curb. If you would like to haul your own sandbags away, you can drop them off at the empty lot just east of the eastside Kwik Star. The sandbag can be left on the curb or dropped off until July 15th. Starting on July 16th, City crews will begin making a final pass through each area of town that was flooded and pick up any remaining debris and sandbags from the curb.
Hazardous Materials
Hazard household waste should be taken to the Bremer County Convenience Center – 2049 200TH Street. Hazard household waste cannot be put out for curb-side pick up or left at any of the dump sites in Waverly. The Yard Waste Site is also accepting hazardous household materials from the flood-damaged houses until Tuesday, July 15th. The City is NOT picking up any hazardous household materials from curbside.
